Emily is the Sustainability Manager for GCI General Contractors, a San Francisco-based commercial contracting/construction management firm specializing in commercial interior, corporate facility and building renovation projects throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. Emily specializes in material management and construction waste diversion (achieving >95%). She has experience managing LEED-CI projects, the Living Building Challenge Materials Petal, and the WELL Building Standard Pilot. Before starting at GCI, Emily built the Sustainability Program for the Cesar Chavez Student Center at San Francisco State University from the ground up in 2009, which is still a vibrant organization on campus. Emily also interned with Eric Corey Freed at organicARCHITECT, where she helped perform a waste audit at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville spearheading the creation of their first internal sustainability team. During this time, she also contributed to Eric's bestselling book "Green Building and Remodeling for Dummies." She holds a BA in Environmental Studies: Sustainability and Social Justice, and a BS in Interior Design.
